3/13/2006 Bird Banding (Pine Gulch)
Greetings,
Today we banded at Pine Gulch on Bolinas Lagoon in the Point Reyes area of CA. It was my third day of banding this season with PRBO and it was the best day of the three. Highlights included catching a single SWAMP SPARROW, SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, and female ALLEN’S HUMMINGBIRD.
There was of course great birds around the Lagoon as well. Included were 10 species of waterfowl including EURASIAN WIGEON, as well as CASPIAN TERN, and several species of shorebirds. I don’t have the data in front of me but in the future I will try and post the numbers of birds that we catch and see. What follows is pictures of the Sharp-shinned Hawk, and the Allen’s Hummingbird.
Cheers.
