Booyah! Birds this morning
I was up a little earlier than usual this morning so my platform feeder was full before the birds started making their rounds. I looked out as I sat down for breakfast and in the dawn light was a small flock of Common Redpolls at the feeder! These were the first redpolls on my feeders in Vermont so I was really excited and couldn’t ask for a better way to start the day. I rarely get to watch my feeders so they could have been around for weeks and I wouldn’t know the difference -certainly a nice treat

Ry,
That is pretty awesome that you got Common Redpolls at the feeders. I know the feeling all too well of having feeders up and not having the time to really enjoy the birds that may be there.
Today I had an adult Cooper’s Hawk sitting in the Phragmites behind my house awaiting a snack…however no birds showed up and he soon departed. Hopefully I will get some redpolls and grosbeaks again soon. My year list has stagnated for the last few weeks seeing as I don’t get out all that often. Regardless, congrats on a rare moment such as that…

I have finch feeders off my balcony so this winter Common Redpolls have been the first birds I see every morning. What a treat, especially when the mesh feeders are filled with up to 30-40 birds!
