Columbia County Night Flight (09/26/2006)
Greetings,
Feeling I should break away from work on the computer,
I decided to head outside to listen for any nocturnal
migrants which might be heading over. Walking out the
door at 11:30pm to a semi-quiet neighborhood (nearby
highway hum), I was immediately greeted by some
feathered friends winging their way south. In the
course of about 15 minutes (I kept it short), I had a
fairly decent flight in which I detected the
following:
-Swainson’s Thrush (20-25)
-Gray-cheeked Thrush (4)
-Veery (2)
-Wood Thrush (1)
-Rose-breasted Grosbeak (2)
-unidentified warbler (2)
-unknown (1)
Good Birding,
Chad
“Oh, meet me in the morning. Won’t you meet me in the
middle of the night, night, night
Everybody know the mornin’ time is comin’
Don’t it make you wanna feel alright. Ah, ah, yeah
Make me feel alright. Fly now, baby
Get to fly, yeah. Fly now, baby”
- Night Flight (Led Zeppelin)
