Election for the Environment?
Greetings,
With election day still strong in our memories, many of us are obviously focused on the current state of our economy, and in particular, the hope that the upcoming administration can begin to fix the financial hole we are in. However, if you are like me, the economy may not be your only national concern. In fact, like millions of us already, you may very well still have great concerns (and hopes) about the upcoming status of our environment and natural resources. Certainly, there are few issues of national importance with greater weight.
Obviously, a change in the current administration is likely to lead to greater environmental gains. However, we have far to go and can not take perceived gains for granted. Recently, while looking over the National Audubon Society’s website, I came across a statement from Audubon President and CEO, John Flicker. The statement simply talks about what steps President-Elect Obama needs to take to address the most pressing environmental issues currently affecting America. It is well worth a quick read if nothing else, and it can be found here.
Bird on,
~Chad
