First of Season Tree Swallows/Pileated Woodpecker
Greetings,
While the birding was not extensive, I had the fortune of spotting a few nice feathered finds today with my girlfriend Betsi. Today while driving up to Valatie in Columbia County, I had a male AMERICAN KESTREL on a wire near the Columbia County Airport on route 9H, and a second on Church Road near Livingston.
Later on while doing some casual birding in Greene County, I had a male PILEATED WOODPECKER just up the road from the ponds at 4-Mile Point, and my first of the season (FOS) TREE SWALLOWS at the Coxsackie Boat Launch. Other notable species present at the boat launch included BUFFLEHEAD, COMMON GOLDENEYE, and GREATER SCAUP. The Lesser Black-backed Gull was not present.
Good Birding,
~Chad
