New NY State Sandhill Crane High Count

Greetings,

Today in the ever birdy Savanna Mucklands, several birders (Shawn Billerman, Tom Johnson, Matt Medler, Chris Wiley and Tim Lenz) discovered a flock of 44 Sandhill Cranes during whiteout conditions. As reported to the Cayugabirds listserve, when entered into eBird this sighting is listed as the new high count for New York. A photo of the cranes can be found here.

The overall productivity of this area of the state never ceases to amaze me.
Bird on,

~Chad
