NJ Yellow Rails
Greetings,
For those of you that do not know, Yellow Rail is perhaps one of the toughest birds to add to any birder’s list in North America. It’s secretive nature, small size, and the habitats it uses all help to keep it well out of sight from most birder’s eyes. However, it can be heard time to time, and in particular during migration along coastal marshes.
Well, the time is now, at least in NJ and many are being reported from such coastal marshes as Turkey Point and Jake’s Landing. While I am only 10 minutes from Jake’s, I have not had a chance to get down there to take a listen. I certainly hope to in the coming days, and if it works out, I will let you all know. That would be one sweet bird.
Chad
