Point Counting @ Palomarin (05/23/06)

Greetings,

Due to recent adventures and misadventures in my life, I have been unable to add any posts recently to the site. However, today was the first day of Point Counting this season, so I figured I should at least make some note of it.

I Point Counted at the Palomarin Field Station on 3 of the grids (1,2, and 4). There were 13 points scattered across the grids, however they were not in a linear pattern so it made it hard to get from point A to point B in a super quick fashion. But it was fun to get some more point counts under my belt, even if it meant wading through 5 foot high poison oak, sometimes face first.

There were no real “barnstorming” birds detected on the counts, mostly just the usual fair that I detect on the daily area search (Song Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow, Wrentit, Spotted Towhee, American Goldfinch, Orange-crowned Warbler, Wilson’s Warbler etc.).  My next count will be on Thursday I believe, and I hope that it will be a bit less windy than today as well.

Bird on,

~Chad (05/23/2006)
