Singin’ Songs
Greetings,
While it may still officially be about a week away, spring is certainly in the air here in Columbia Co., NY. Today I had the great feeling for the first time this year of waking up to birds in full song. As usual the singing suspects were mostly Song Sparrows, but there were a few other species joining in such as: Black-capped Chickadee, White-throated Sparrow, Northern Cardinal, and House Finch. There were also large flocks of icterids (blackbirds) and geese flying over toward dusk. I will certainly do my best in the coming weeks to spot a Rusty Blackbird, a species which I have been observing less and less of in the previous years. All in all not a bad day of “birding” considering I never raised by bins.
Spring is on the way!
~Chad
