Susan Schubel- Disney Conservation Hero

Since my experience has taken me across the country, from Maine to California to New Jersey, I have worked with a myriad of professionals, all of whom in my mind are conservation heroes. However, there are always some that stand out.

Back when I worked for the National Audubon Society’s Project Puffin in 2004 as an Education Assistant, I had the opportunity to meet one such person, Susan Schubel aka “Seabird Sue.” Sue is an outreach educator for the project, and has used her skills as an artist to compliment her education to teach thousands of Maine students about marine and seabird life. Something we feel at Chat Happens, doesn’t happen nearly enough. With that said, it pleases us to hear the news that the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund has noticed Sue’s work, and has awarded her the title of Conservation Hero!

From all of us at Chat Happens, we wish to extend our congratulations to Sue, Disney, and of course Project Puffin for the continuation of their work to assist the environment and future generations to come!

Seabirds forever,
