Things to come?

Greetings,

With recent reports of waterfowl numbers increasing in the Fingerlakes, and of other sightings including Snow Buntings, and Lapland Longspurs, can winter and it’s feathered gems really be that far off? Probably not. In fact, today I had the first Dark-eyed Juncos of the season underneath my feeders. Surely a sign of things to come. In fact before I know it I’ll be in VT chasing winter finches, the Niagara River chasing rare gulls (finally this year?), local fields for winter owls, and coastal MA chasing whatever amazing seabirds decide to get blown in.

I’m not necessarily the biggest fan of winter, but there is always something to look forward to.
