World Series of Birding Results
Marking the passage of time for many birders just as New Years Day, Christmas, and birthdays do for the general public, the New Jersey Audubon Society just hosted its 23rd Annual World Series of Birding (WSB) on International Migratory Bird Day (May 13, 2006). Being a birding competition where “Everyone wins and nobody loses” that raises thousands of dollars for bird conservation is certainly one of our (Ryan and I) favorite birding events. It was unfortunate that we could not compete this year due to our current employment responsibilities, however, Ryan and I want to congratulate the Cornell Lab of Ornithology Sapsuckers for their amazing efforts to find 229 species in 24 hrs in the state of NJ. We also would like to send our appreciation to all of the competitors, and those who supported the event either by helping out the teams or by lending their financial support; it is a great event that is not only a ton of fun, but is also something that helps bird conservation every year.
