Year of the…
American Crow. Today I awoke to the caws of an American Crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos) outside my window giving me my first bird species of the year. Having the day off from work I had a very relaxing day sitting around the house and found a total of 12 species at my feeders. All of which would have probably been expected. Regardless, it is looking to be a good year of birding with great winter finches and gulls in the nearby area. Here’s to a great expected year.
Good Birding,
Chad
PS What was all of your first species of 2008?

Common Redpolls.
I have a finch feeding station off the balcony in my bedroom so as soon as I put on my glasses, I get a great view of the feeders.
It’s a wonderful treat every morning, whether redpolls or goldfinches.
