April 18- April 20: Weekend Home
Greetings,
This past weekend with my roommates still in Central and South America, I decided to spend the time home, with my family, friends, and girlfriend. It was a whirlwind trip, and I still have to head home tomorrow early in the morning to arrive at the center in southern NJ by 1030, but it was more than worth it. It is always a nice feeling to meet up with friends and family, and to make you realize how great home is.
While home in fact, I even did a little bit of birding with Betsi. We visited Lake Taghkanic for a few minutes and were were able to stumble across a few warblers (Pine and Yellow-rumped). Both species responded quickly to spishing and afforded great looks. Nice to see migration is on the move, even further north in NY. I also had a great opportunity to spend time with my close friends Steve and Amy at a local flea market for an afternoon. Great weather, great companionship, good food, and great junk (sorta).
At any rate, tomorrow (Monday) will find me again in south NJ, but I will be home again in a few weeks with any luck. By that time the field season should just be ready to begin as the shorebirds numbers begin to build. I look forward to telling you all of those adventures when they come.
